The August 2018 Oh So Criminal Illumicrate Unboxing

I’ve had multiple book subscriptions in the past, Owlcrate, The YA Chronicles, Illumicrate, I’ve had and loved them all. Unfortunately I stopped all my subscriptions in 2016 after buying a house as I couldn’t justify the cost any more. And it was so, so sad to not have these boxes waiting for me on a regular basis.

Fast-forward to Spring 2018 where my book club buddies asked me what I wanted as a housewarming gift, and I immediately thought of my long-lost subscription boxes. There was no way I could have been any more excited than seeing that Illumicrate box standing on my lounge chair outside when I got home. For the first time in over a year, I could finally open a bookish subscription box again and scream over the wonders it contained.

Finally another bookish subscription unboxing and I couldn’t be more excited to share what I got!

Villains Are My Bag Totebag by KDP Letters

I literally screamed when I uncovered this tote from the box. Yes, I already have about a hundred in a drawer, but this one is definitely one of the best ones I have now. An absolute new favorite.

Sirius Snacks Coaster by Katie Abey Design

This may be an unwanted stocking-filler to some people, but I now have the perfect coaster for the coffee table in my library. Not only is it bookish, it also refers to two things I love doing while reading: drinking and snacking, AND it’s soft so it won’t scratch up my table. Yi-ha!

Darkdawn Nail File by Hey Atlas Creative

This is a stocking-filler to me, but I can’t deny that I was in dire need of a nail file.

No Mourners No Funerals Lanyard by Fable and Black

Another goody for which I screamed my head off. Definitely changing my boring work-lanyard into this one so I’ll be sporting my love for YA and Six of Crows at work all day every day.

Antagonist Necklace by Down The Rabbit Hole

This double-sided necklace reads protagonist on one side and antagonist on the other. A definite stocking-filler, but so damn cute.

Perfect Heist Candle by Elven Wick Candles

I always love receiving candles in these boxes. They are cute, smell amazing and you can always use them, no matter what. This specific candle smells freaking awesome and will accompany me on my reading journeys in my library this fall.

Easiest Lies Mirror by Reverie and Ink

Yes, a mirror! And it’s a fairly big one too. I immediately put it in one of my handbags as it is always good to carry a mirror around to check that lipstick.

Gotham Sirens Print by Jamila Mehio

Holy cow this print is beautiful! I never know what to do with these prints, but I’m in dire need of a Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn criminal girl squad story now.

Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas

And then of course the most important part of the box, and what an absolute gorgeous Illumicrate edition it is. Those sprayed edges!

And actually I just read Catwoman by SJM and Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn are actually both in the story (and they do form a trio)! It was a fun read and I hope you enjoy it when you get the chance to read it! 🙂
