My 2018 Reading Resolutions, How Did I Do?

We’re over the half of December, and that’s a good moment for me to check how I did during my 2018 reading resolutions as I’ll be writing up my 2019 reading resolutions soon. Yeah, I still have a few days to make sure I complete my goals, but that’s not really going to be a problem. (You’ll soon see why.)

Goal 1: Continue my book buying budget – Did my best

I’m not going to sit here and pretend that I managed to fully reach this goal. Sometimes a girl needs to splurge a little and get an extra book (or two, or three… or seventeen). This goal has however taught me to think about the books I want to buy and not just get everything. I used to always have three online orders of each two or three books in some stage of ordering, and I’ve really stepped away from that bad (and expensive) habit.

Goal 2: Continue my series I need to finish lists – Success!

One day, I suddenly had this crazy idea of creating a list of five series I never finished, but really should. That list ended up becoming part 1, and has continued on to part 2, part 3 and part 4 that I’m currently going through. In 2018, I finished part 2, started and finished part 3 and started part 4. I can say this goal has been reached with success!

Goal 3: Goodreads Reading Challenge – Extreme succeeds!

With still half a month of 2018 to go, it may seem a bit weird to already judge this goal. I set a goal of 85 books for 2018 and at this point I’ve read… XXX books. Yup, I reached my reading challenge goal already back in August.

Goal 4: Popsugar 2018 Reading Challenge – Failed!

I set this goal with the best of intentions; I truly wanted to read out of my comfort zone and challenge myself to pick up something different. Unfortunately, after finding myself plowing through a couple of books that I really wasn’t liking, I gave up on this goal. Oh well.

  1. You did good! Too bad about the Popsugar Reading Challenge though, haha. I skipped this year’s because most of the prompts weren’t to my liking but.. It honestly is an ART to find books you’re somewhat sure you’ll like for every prompt anyway. 🙂

True that! I did discover some amazing books I wouldn’t have read otherwise, but I also had to plow through some awful reads too. Anyway, I have some new tricks up my sleeve for 2019.

And ahh, I love your series-to-finish lists! So impressive how on top of it you are! I really need to get better about finishing series…
