Okay, so when the unofficial queen of sappy love stories delves into the world of horror, I’m worried. I wanted to give Perkins the benefit of the doubt, but I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Would she be able to write a story that would keep me at the edge of my seat and, more importantly, not make me gag with a sickly-sweet romance? YES. SHE. DID.

I don’t even know any more how the proof of House of Ash got into my possession. I might have grabbed it from some table at YALC or one of my friends got it and gave it to me. Anyway, with “mental illness” in the short description, there was no way I was passing up on this novel!
